The Gift of Stability

Dear Friends in Christ,

The life of any community is sustained by an oscillation of stability and change. We need both—the rock beneath our feet and the wind that stirs us—for health.

Grace has been in a season of change. I am glad to share news of some stability:

First, our Interim Music Director, Josh Harrington, has agreed to stay at Grace on a permanent basis. Josh has quickly become beloved to choir and congregation alike. He has continued Grace’s strong Anglican musical tradition while at the same time introducing music that is new to us. I am thrilled that he has agreed to remain at Grace.

Second, our Interim Assistant to the Rector, Father Jon Scarffe, has agreed to stay at Grace two months past his initial end date of June 30; he will now spend the summer with us and depart August 31. Father Jon, too, has quickly made an impact on the life of Grace Church. His extended time with us will allow a him to bring more of his work around Pastoral Care and Adult Formation to fruition. It will also allow us more time to continue our search for the part-time Pastoral Associate that our budget allows.

These two changes follow Mother Emma’s return from maternity leave and Kimblery Savage’s beginning as our new Finance and Facilities Administrator. We are in a new chapter in our life together as a staff.

Grace Church has a particular gift as a teaching parish, and so we will always be welcoming new staff (both clergy and lay), training them, lifting them up, and sending them to serve the wider church. This pattern will continue.

But these two announcements remind me that our parish is also blessed by moments of stability and continuity. I hope you will join me in thanking our talented and dedicated staff for their commitment to this place.

Yours in Christ,
Anne+
